Transcription: Mars is the fourth planet from the Sun, and as you can see in this side-by-side comparison, it's about half the size of Earth. It is often called the red planet because it appears red due to the rusted iron dust particles that are in its atmosphere. Although it is significantly smaller than Earth, the time that it takes to rotate on its axis is about the same as that of Earth. A Martian day lasts about 24.6 Earth hours. Although the length of the day is similar on Mars and Earth, the length of the year is not. It takes Mars about 1.9 Earth years to make a full rotation around the Sun.
